Introduction
In 2017, western media had been ignited by terms such as ‘Alternative Facts’ and ‘Post truth’. How do we interpret or illustrate alternative facts? Are they necessarily falsehoods? Can visual documentary reveal an objective truth or is it just about perception and perspective.
Given the documentary focus of PhotoBath, media debates around truth and realism seemed an interesting focus for the second group exhibition
Alternative Facts was PhotoBath’s largest group exhibition so far. Contributors submitted an eclectic and diverse range of remarkable interpretations on a controversial theme at the heart of debates around documentary photography.
The exhibition was very well attended and stimulated lots of very interesting discussion and debate.
