Paris Photo 2024
Paris Photo’s return to the Grand Palais venue was a great success with over 80,000 visitors across the 4 days of the event. Paris Photo is essentially a corporate event and most works are for sale with many selling for six figure numbers – reflecting the buoyancy of the market.
The venue itself is spectacular and certainly contributes to the experience, however, the sheer amount and diversity of photography on show is stunning and unrivalled.
If you are not minded to buy then browsing the current offerings from top international galleries is reward enough.
New work is well represented along with classics such as August Sander’s monumental work People from the Twentieth Century, a series of 619 photographs being shown for the first time Europe. Works from Bresson, Fink, Frank, Leiter etc. share space with more contemporary artists such as Sugimoto, Király and Cai DongDong – to name but a few.
There is an excellent section of Books and magazines as well as regular signings and associated talks on all aspects of photography.
A must see event and well worth a trip.
With around 240 participants it is large and can be somewhat overwhelming. I would recommend a selective approach if you value your sanity.
Paris Photo returns in 2025 from November 12 – 16
at the Grand Palais, Paris.
